Watch Where You Step

So that super secret plot we mentioned before! It's right on the horizon. Here's the deets:
Larsa is being bitten by an asp.
But wait, is that really such a big deal? You betcha! With Larsa being the only Solidor alive (as far as the general population knows anyway), and being heirless, its ginormous! Don't worry, we're not quite mean enough to totally kill the cutie off. Yes we are but not this time. Ahem. However, the little emperor will be languishing on death's door for a while. What does this mean for everyone else?
Well. Because asps are desert snakes, the Ministry of Law in Archadia will be cracking down entirely on any "suspect" people. Specifically anyone known or suspected of being from Dalmasca or Nalbina. If you're a desert dweller (or thought to be one), and you are present or travel to Archades, you'll find yourself thrown in the clink until the authorities have ample opportunity to question you regarding nefarious assassination attempts. But they aren't the only ones being held. Anyone possessing a visible grimoire will also be taken into custody for questioning, though they'll only be questioned and not jailed indefinitely. Until Larsa regains consciousness, and he can make decisions regarding how he wishes the investigation to proceed, the arrests will continue. The aerodome will be shut down to all traffic, in or out, of Archades, and guards will be posted at the gate crystal and the city exits to stop anyone coming in or out, until the perpetrator is found. Finding the guilty one will take months, so expect to find travel in or out of the Imperial City difficult in the coming weeks. In fact, if you're not Archadian? Expect to absolutely be given at the least the stinkeye, or at the worst? A stay in their finest jails.
Questions? Ask 'em here! Plotting? Go for it!!
Edit: A little more info since people have been asking on plurk! First, Korik asked a great question about people trying to get into the city over here. So there's that info for referencing.
Additionally, some characters might already be in the city and curious what's going on too. Aside from the cases mentioned above, what about the Archadians? Since the city is full to brimming over with elitist snobs who trade in chops and information, rest assured the streetears will absolutely be looking for any scraps of information why the city guard has suddenly stepped up its game and gotten more visible in the city. Whether or not these information peddlers get the truth or have to rely on rumormongering is entirely based on you the players. The guard won't be knocking up sleeping people in their homes, but if they're out on the streets coming home from a later dinner following a night at the theatre, they'll find their chops being examined. Given that Archadians are notorious for assigning prestige and respectability based on how far up you live in the city, those in the lower levels are far more likely to find themselves under scrutiny than those further up in the city. How severe or lenient the guard happens to turn out is also up for some general wiggleroom. You might find a genuinely earnest and good sort of fellow who just wants to do his job well. You also might get a random jerk who is trying to use this sudden influx of work to angle for getting a promotion by manhandling the foreigners. Plenty of room for everyone to work in.
