Watch Where You Step
So that super secret plot we mentioned before! It's right on the horizon. Here's the deets:
Larsa is being bitten by an asp.
But wait, is that really such a big deal? You betcha! With Larsa being the only Solidor alive (as far as the general population knows anyway), and being heirless, its ginormous! Don't worry, we're not quite mean enough to totally kill the cutie off. Yes we are but not this time. Ahem. However, the little emperor will be languishing on death's door for a while. What does this mean for everyone else?
Well. Because asps are desert snakes, the Ministry of Law in Archadia will be cracking down entirely on any "suspect" people. Specifically anyone known or suspected of being from Dalmasca or Nalbina. If you're a desert dweller (or thought to be one), and you are present or travel to Archades, you'll find yourself thrown in the clink until the authorities have ample opportunity to question you regarding nefarious assassination attempts. But they aren't the only ones being held. Anyone possessing a visible grimoire will also be taken into custody for questioning, though they'll only be questioned and not jailed indefinitely. Until Larsa regains consciousness, and he can make decisions regarding how he wishes the investigation to proceed, the arrests will continue. The aerodome will be shut down to all traffic, in or out, of Archades, and guards will be posted at the gate crystal and the city exits to stop anyone coming in or out, until the perpetrator is found. Finding the guilty one will take months, so expect to find travel in or out of the Imperial City difficult in the coming weeks. In fact, if you're not Archadian? Expect to absolutely be given at the least the stinkeye, or at the worst? A stay in their finest jails.
Questions? Ask 'em here! Plotting? Go for it!!
Edit: A little more info since people have been asking on plurk! First, Korik asked a great question about people trying to get into the city over here. So there's that info for referencing.
Additionally, some characters might already be in the city and curious what's going on too. Aside from the cases mentioned above, what about the Archadians? Since the city is full to brimming over with elitist snobs who trade in chops and information, rest assured the streetears will absolutely be looking for any scraps of information why the city guard has suddenly stepped up its game and gotten more visible in the city. Whether or not these information peddlers get the truth or have to rely on rumormongering is entirely based on you the players. The guard won't be knocking up sleeping people in their homes, but if they're out on the streets coming home from a later dinner following a night at the theatre, they'll find their chops being examined. Given that Archadians are notorious for assigning prestige and respectability based on how far up you live in the city, those in the lower levels are far more likely to find themselves under scrutiny than those further up in the city. How severe or lenient the guard happens to turn out is also up for some general wiggleroom. You might find a genuinely earnest and good sort of fellow who just wants to do his job well. You also might get a random jerk who is trying to use this sudden influx of work to angle for getting a promotion by manhandling the foreigners. Plenty of room for everyone to work in.

Actually poor Pen really is a high priority suspect until someone comes and gets her out. She had been an overnight guest at Larsa's place a couple of months back. Highly suspicious!
(aka, come question her!)

Clearly your other friends, ie the more obvious military and other JMs (outside Zargabaath, I'd imagine) are looking to completely earn their stripes and run your infrastructure ragged.
You step on their faces, BaschGabs. You step good.

I suppose it should go without saying that Judge Magister Zargabaath might be appointed as "Lord Regent" until the little emperor is back on his feet. Especially considering Larsa never reinstated the Senate or any of the powers that be, and apparently Zargabaath wouldn't dare trust the daily functions of the Empire to that Not!Gabranth in the bloody corner.
Yes, I see it now. Though, yes Gabranth and Zargabaath will need to speak prior regarding the state of their realm beforehand.

You are pardoned, sir.

looking at u Judge Magisters). He will be making an exit from Balfonheim with Doctor Cid to the Sochen Palace where they will part ways as one person has to stay behind to ensure that their plans will not go horribly awry and, potentially, see to it that they aka Vayne can get back out again (DON'T MAKE CID TURN DAD ON YOU ALL IF YOU TAKE THINGS FROM HIM).I'm open to whatever else if other people want Vayne to sort of come to check them out as he will possibly see those that the Imperials are already arresting - though he will mostly do so from a distance.

That said, Adelle is going to be stewing good and proper whether she does or does not hear back from Penelo immediately. I'm still formulating what she's gonna do as things goes down. The big thing I want is for her to come into the information that Penelo's been detained in a couple of days' time. If she doesn't and doesn't hear from Penelo in a few days, she'll take it upon herself to go fetch her dancer from the belly of Archades. Ideally, I'd like for her to get the information so she can make an official maneuver to petition the Ministry of Law
hello, Judge Magistersfor Penelo's release to her clan... although said maneuver would still require a bit of, ahem, infiltration work.Soooooooo, halp?
PS: I'm not even going to touch on Rasler's reaction to this.

And Vayne may be in Archades for a while (so there is the potential, if Vayne does lose his phone, which I imagine he might? but that's Basch/Zargabaath territory, and neither of them exactly know if Vayne is for Archadia or against it.....again, more things to consider), that Cid will be unaware of what's going on? You're gonna have to save the uncle - or Vayne could write to him from his grimoire since people cannot take them away....

And we've got the phone call going now! Okay, wait what now about saving Cid.................................

Saving Cid from being alone and without emotional support because Vayne has been (whether or not he realizes it) playing substitute family with Cid....considering where they both died and how they were revived, they are alone and only have each other.
